How to overcome anxiety?

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is an uncomfortable psychologic condition ranging from mild unease to intense fear. Though some anxiety is normal but higher levels of anxiety may lead to significant problems.

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Anxiety?

Anxiety is often accompanied by a variety of symptoms. The common symptoms are:

    Heart palpitations (awareness of a more forceful or faster heartbeat)

    Throbbing or stabbing pains

    A feeling of tightness

    Inability to take in enough air

    Headaches

Anxiety can cause stiffness in the back and neck muscles, too, which often leads to pain in the back and muscle cramps. Other symptoms include excessive sweating, dryness of mouth, dizziness, digestion issues, and increased bowel movement.

People with anxiety generally have a constant feeling that something bad is going to happen; a chronic or fatal disease. This happens due to a belief that is reflected by the symptoms of anxiety. Restlessness may lead to trouble in sleeping throughout the night.

What Causes Anxiety?

Both kind of factors; physical and psychological, can lead to anxiety. Like;

    Extreme stress

    Stimulants like caffeine

    Increased lactic acid level in the blood

Are Overthinking and Anxiety interlinked?

When a person overthinks, the brain consumes more glucose than a normal routine. This may lead to a hypoglycemic condition; when blood sugar levels go below the normal range, to which our body produces “adrenaline”, a hormone that signals the liver to release the stored glucose. This process results in low blood pressure and sweaty hands which can ultimately lead to anxiety.

Which Dietary Factors are Important in Anxiety?

Several dietary factors like; caffeine, sugar, B vitamins deficiency, low levels of calcium or magnesium, alcohol, and food allergies, can lead to anxiety by raising lactic acid levels. Switching caffeine, sugar, alcohol, or any food that may cause an allergic reaction with foods that are high in B vitamins, calcium, and magnesium, will be quite effective in lowering the lactic acid levels. In some cases, anxiety is overcome by eliminating just caffeine. The diet should be rich in;

    Leafy vegetables

    Whole grains

    Legumes

    Seafood

    Sesame seeds

    Dairy products
